Roof Tiles

[vc_column_text css=”” text_align=”center” font_size=”18px”]There are many considerations to address when sourcing materials for re-roofing a listed property or other significant building. It is usual to be specified to use a Handmade Clay Tile. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner]
[vc_row_inner content_placement=”middle”][vc_column_inner offset=”vc_col-lg-offset-1 vc_col-lg-10″][vc_column_text css=””]There are tiles that claim to be ‘handmade’, many of which are imported from a wide range of countries but we believe that we are the last HAND THROWN TILE MAKER left in the country.

The Handmade maker will have staff skilled to provide an informed and personal service to customers. For a small extra cost to the customer, handmade tiles can be coded to protect them from theft.

A specified handmade tiled roof is often a requirement to meet planning and conservation regulations, the pitch of the roof is important too you have a beautiful roof let’s see it!. A roof on a low pitch allows the weather to abuse the handmade tile in a damaging way, unlike the steep pitches of yesteryear.

Many house designers quote Sir Edwin Lutyens — probably one of the most famous of British architects and revered for the style of his country houses. When considering pitch, it is wise to avoid what Sir Edwin Lutyens reportedly termed ‘the ugly angle’; the pitch of 45 degrees. Therefore, on his advice always try and match existing roof pitches when adding to an old building, and do not be shy about considering steeper roof pitches, which are be very attractive.

Most Handmade Manufacturers will technically agree a minimum pitch of 40 degrees; but for the realistic enjoyment of a beautiful roof, a steeper pitch affords such an experience.

It is possible to have a single colour tiled roof, but although there will be tonal differences in colour to give life to the roof think of the subtlety of a blend. By far the best option is to use two or three colours of tiles and ensure that the roofer applies them randomly.

In general, a nib tiled roof is the most usual and cost effective. Nibs and standard peg and set on a gauge of 4 inches; 60 to the square metre. Handmade tiles and fittings combine the best of all possible worlds – the beauty of the past with the durability of the new.

Second hand tiles may be similarly priced to new, and at the end of a useful life weathered from the roof where they have rested for decades.

Conversely a new handmade tile is just the beginning of a beautiful asset. In keeping with a time honoured and traditional approach to business, staff at a Handmade Manufacturer are skilled at providing an informed and personal service to customers.

In addition to their product range a competent Handmade Tile Maker can be enthusiastic to produce that special shape, colour or size for your project – no matter how few are required.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner equal_height=”yes” content_placement=”middle” css=”.vc_custom_1728301175718{padding-right: 30px !important;padding-left: 30px !important;}”][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″ css=”.vc_custom_1728301157889{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;background-color: #2a3434 !important;}”]
